ACND Prep will hold its inaugural People’s Choice Winners Exhibit celebrating the artwork of emerging student artists who participated in the school’s 5th Annual Middle School Art Festival. The winners, announced at www.acnd.net on February 14th, will be celebrated at a special reception at McCormick Place in Downtown Miami as part of First Friday Art Walk in Downtown Miami – a free community event. The special presentation at 7:30 p.m. will be followed by a tour of resident artist studios of Eleazar Delgado, Monique Lassooij, Andrea Beloff, Eva Avila, Andres Conde, Karen Kim, and more.
About McCormick Place: The original building, constructed in 1924, was first a US Customs Warehouse serving as storage of confiscated goods and look-out post for the nefarious characters coming into Miami via the Biscayne Bay and the Miami River. The property was purchased in 1970 by Edward J. McCormick, Sr. ’59 (alumnus of ACND Prep) and dedicated to his father, Dr. James McCormick. Now, three generations later, Sean McCormick is reviving both this venue and the Downtown area, creating an epicenter for the cultural crossroads of Miami. McCormick Place is a vibrant production-based event space and houses studios of various well known artists.
