Remembranzas de Emily Dickinson is an original play written and directed by Zaida Castellanos. First-year students from Prometeo’s Conservatory in Theatre Arts will illustrate the life of a character that is so emblematic to American literature and will share the unique story of Emily Dickinson with the Hispanic community. While visiting the Emily Dickinson Museum, visitors become entranced with the atmosphere and stories that take them back to a time when the house was filled with the Dickinson family. This play unravels the conflicts of her passionate and turbulent life, her poetry, as well as her relationships with her father, sister and the unrequited loves that inspired the verses of one of the most important American poets of all time. The play will be performed in Spanish with English supertitles.

This production is part of the Big Read initiative that The Center @ MDC is spearheading once again this year, focusing on the poetry of this memorable artist. The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest designed to revitalize the role of literature in American culture and bring its transformative power into the lives of its citizens.

As part of The Big Read, tickets for Remembranzas de Emily Dickinson (Remembering the Life of Emily Dickinson) are FREE.
