International Art Galleries Emigrate to Miami in December

11 Nov, 2011 5:41 p.m.

Downtown Miami and the Wynwood Arts district host some of the best art shows in the nation. Though Art Basel will be based in Miami Beach in the first week of December, I’ve found that it extends its knowledge and reputation to various exhibits in Miami proper.

The Wynwood Arts District is overflowing with modern art shows, all covering different niches. Get a global experience with shows dedicated to Asian art and Tribal Arts, or wax philanthropic with Arts for a Better World, dedicated to improving the world through art. Find the oldest running show in the city from December 1-4 at Art Miami or go for the largest with Scope, featuring seven markets worldwide from November 29 to December 4. Scope Miami runs from November 29 to December 4 in Wynwood and is the largest art show in the world, featuring seven markets worldwide. Rejoice in the ultra-chic Pulse, featuring the best art from international galleries.

Outside of Wynwood, Art Basel has still more to offer. The Aqua Art Fair strives to boost notoriety for emerging artists, locally and nationally. The Rubell art museum has a new exhibition entitled “American Exuberance,” depicting the American experience through the lenses of different cultures for the Art Basel occasion, premiering November 30. Fountain Art Fair offers Avant Guarde works from December 1-4 while Pop-up Pianos brings iconic Steinway pianos the locations throughout the city on the same dates. Regardless of which art fairs you attend during your Miami excursion, you’ll find innovative and groundbreaking pieces and exclusive VIP opportunities during the art gallery festivities.
