In the mid 90’s DowntownMiami.com founder Silvia Morales was heading marketing efforts for some of Miami’s best known hotels and shopping/entertainment centers. She soon realized that in her capacity, she would have to “sell” the destination as well as the projects. As a native Miamian, she personally knew the sheer magnetism to be found in Downtown Miami – it was getting that message to locals and visitors alike that was challenging. She led many efforts to have the destination “packaged” with its unique identity. “We seemed to be getting lost in the big picture approach", says Silvia . As a result of her efforts, she was named Chairperson of the City of Miami’s Mayor’s Taskforce to market Miami in the late 90’s. She worked every possible angle to get the City of Miami promoted in campaigns which had been primarily focused on our Beaches.
In 2001 Silvia established DowntownMiami.com, as the ideal destination marketing source to showcase Downtown Miami through the worldwide reach of the internet. Since its inception, DowntownMiami.com has consistently achieved top ranking on all major search engines based on actual traffic counts. In 2001 The City of Miami officially endorsed this groundbreaking project as "an official site for the City of Miami", an impressive distinction held to date. The City of Miami's website has featured a link to DowntownMiami.com for all information pertaining to its unique lifestyle since 2002. The Downtown Miami Partnership (DMP) officially endorsed DowntownMiami.com as well in 2002 and has partnered with DowntownMiami.com on a variety of high profile events and efforts.

DowntownMiami.com Corp expanded on its original concept of "packaging" the Downtown Miami destination on the internet by creating "Downtown Miami's Best", an event following its same successful format. Downtown Miami's Best attracted over 2,000 Downtowners who celebrated the best that Downtown Miami has to offer. Guests are treated to all the sights, sounds, and tastes presented in an evening honoring the best that Downtown Miami has to offer. This original event produced in colllaboration with the DMP has become a tradition and the perfect compliment to DowntownMiami.com.
