Miami Children’s Museum Celebrates Dr. Seuss’s 117th Birthday with a Drive-Thru Celebration

Hang on to your hats and watch out for the Cat in the Hat as Miami Children’s Museum and The Children’s Trust commemorate one of the world’s greatest children’s book authors with a week-long virtual celebration, culminating in a drive-thru birthday bash on Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Visit the Museum’s website or social media platforms from Tuesday, March 2 - Saturday, March 6 for an extravaganza of Seussical fun for everyone.  Miami Children’s Museum and The Children’s Trust, in partnership with Florida Dairy Farmers, PNC Bank, and Molina Healthcare, will be honoring Dr. Seuss’s wonderful contributions to literacy by providing the community with accessible digital resources including storytellings from celebrity readers, musical and theatrical performances from the Museum’s Theatre Troupe, and how-to activities like how to make Green Eggs & Ham and more.

The week-long literacy celebration will culminate on Saturday, March 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with Dr. Seuss’s 117th Drive-Thru Birthday Bash.  The first 500 families will receive various birthday goodies like sweet treats and fun trinkets, along with a take-home kit filled with items that will encourage reading such as books, pencils, and notebooks.  The drive-thru will also feature special appearances by the Cat in the Hat and other Dr. Seuss characters.  Children and families are invited to participate in this free community drive-thru event to engage in a safe family-centric outing that will reinforce elements of literacy.

This event is set up to be a contactless drive-thru.  There will be birthday family packs for up to 500 families on a first come first served basis.  Cars must enter the drive to the Museum from the old A1A and form a line.  Guests must stay in their cars at all times and when it is their turn, pull up to the distribution point with their windows closed and trunk open.  After distribution is complete, they can exit the facility.  No walk-ups will be allowed.  Rain or shine.

While Miami Children’s Museum’s galleries are temporarily closed to the public due to current Covid-19 restrictions, it remains dedicated to serving the community and fulfilling its mission, both in person and online through its Museum at Home program.  This will be the sixth complimentary community drive-thru event the Museum has hosted since its temporary closure in March 2020.
